How to lock published dashboard and data source from editing in destination site

When you want to restrict or allow editing of a published dashboard and data source on the destination site, you can lock the dashboard while publishing from the source site. This ensures that all users, including admin and non-admin users of the destination site, cannot edit the published resource.

Lock Resource while Publishing

Follow these steps to lock the dashboard and data source:

1. Navigate to the dashboard or data source you want to publish.
2. Click on the Publish option under the context menu.
   
   
3. Choose Internal or External site.

   Note : For Cloud Analytics Server, only External site publishing is possible and for Embedded Analytics Server, internal site publishing is available only for master sites, and external site publishing is available for all sites (master and non-master sites)

4. In the Publish Dashboard window, select the destination site where you want to publish the dashboard.
   
   
5. Add the Category name

   Note: If the provided category already exists on the destination site, then dashboards will be published under that category; if not, a new category will be created and dashboards will be published under that

6. Under the advanced option, you can choose which sites you want to lock specifically along with their Owner by selecting sites.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   You can also lock the specific data sources from editing in the destination site by selecting the data source names in the drop-down menu, as shown below for the dashboard publish.
   
   
7. If you want to globally lock the dashboard from editing on all the selected destination sites, then checking the below option is enough.
   
   
8. Similarly, If you want to globally lock the data source(s) from editing at all the selected destination sites, then check the below option.
   
   
9. Then, click on the Submit button to publish the dashboard with the locked settings.

Lock or unlock published resource

To lock or unlock the already published resource from editing on the destination site, go to Published Resources page on the source site and respective option will be available under each published item under Action menu, like below.
