How do I download and upload dashboards from one site/tenant to another site/tenant using Bold BI offline migrate utility?

This article explains how to download and upload dashboards from one server (site/tenant) to another using the Bold BI offline migrate utility.

Downloading dashboards from the source Bold BI server

1. Download and extract this zip file contents in the source machine (From where the dashboards need to be downloaded and moved).
2. Navigate to the app_data folder in the extracted folder and edit the embedDetails.json file
3. In the file provide the embed secret and the user credentials to be used for connecting to the Bold BI server to generate the offline dashboard bak files.

   Key Name	Description
   EmbedSecret	You can generate this by following the steps in the help documentation link.
   UserEmail	The email address of the user to be used for processing the dashboard download and upload
   UserPassword	Password of the user
   Environment	For on premise builds provide the value as “enterprise”
   SiteIdentifier	You can get the site identifier from the URL as shown below
   RootUrl	The URL of the Bold BI server with eg:http://localhost:3006/bi

4. Once the settings are updated, save the embedDetails.json file.
5. Open the command prompt and navigate to the extracted folder and run the below command

 BoldBI.Offline.Migrate.Utility.exe

6. Once the app is started successfully, handle the download procedure as described in this walkthrough video.
7. Finally, the successfully downloaded dashboards will be available in the Downloads folder within the utility folder as a backup file. You can copy this file and use to upload in other Bold BI server.

Uploading dashboards to the destination Bold BI server

1. Connect to the instance holding the destination Bold BI server to which the backed-up dashboards need to be uploaded.
2. Download and extract the shared utility.
3. Follow the steps 2 to 4 in the aforementioned procedure to configure the utility in the machine.
4. Copy the backed-up file obtained from the source machine location (downloads folder within the utility folder) and paste in the current machine location (downloads folder within the utility folder)
5. Once done, repeat the step 5 in the aforementioned procedure to launch the utility application.
6. Handle the upload procedure as described in this walkthrough video.
7. Finally, the uploaded dashboards can be found in the dashboards listing page in the destination Bold BI server.
