How to Enable Trackball Tooltips for Minimal Values in Bold BI V2 Charts

In Bold BI V2 charts (Line, Area, Column, etc.), tooltips can be difficult to trigger on very small values or tightly clustered data points. Enabling trackball interaction (via the Shared Tooltip option) adds a vertical track line and shared tooltip, making hover interactions more reliable and improving tooltip visibility.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Open the Dashboard in Edit Mode
- Log in to your Bold BI instance.
- Open the desired dashboard and click Edit.
2. Select the V2 Chart Widget
- Click on the V2 chart widget you want to configure.
3. Open Widget Properties
- Click the Settings (gear) icon to open the Properties panel.
- Navigate to the Tooltip Settings section.
4. Enable Tooltip
- Ensure Show Tooltip (or Tooltip) is set to Enabled / On.
5. Enable Shared Tooltip (Trackball)
- In the Tooltip Settings section, check the Shared Tooltip box.
This enables trackball support for better tooltip reliability on small or clustered values.
6. Test the Trackball Interaction
- Switch to Preview mode or test directly on the designer canvas.
- Move your mouse along the chart axis or near data points. The trackball line and shared tooltip should now appear reliably.
7. Publish the Dashboard
- Click Save / Publish to apply the changes.

- Trackball not appearing? — Confirm you are using a V2 Chart widget and Bold BI v15.1+. Republish and refresh the page.
- Option not visible? — First enable Show Tooltip, then Shared Tooltip should appear.
- Still inconsistent? — Increase marker size or line thickness for better hover targets.
