How to schedule a dashboard export by passing parameters in Bold BI

Published:

Bold BI dashboards provide a convenient feature that enables the scheduling of dashboard exports by passing parameters. This functionality is particularly useful for sharing relevant insights with stakeholders without the need to export the entire dashboard data. Here’s how to set up a scheduled export by passing parameters in Bold BI:

Steps to Schedule a Dashboard by passing parameters

  1. Add a New Schedule:

    • Add a schedule from the “Schedules” page with the “Create Schedule” button or “Create Schedule” option from the dashboard menu.

  2. Select Dashboard and Pass the Parameter:
Choose the category and dashboard you wish to export from. Then, pass the parameter in the “Parameter” input field. The parameter value syntax is same as the syntax in filtering views using URL parameters.

    Example: {column_name}=IN(ALFKI,ANATR,BOLID)

Please refer to this documentation on “Filtering Views through URL”.

  3. Configure Export Settings:

    • Recurrence Type: Decide how often the export should occur (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly).

    • Users: Specify which users should receive the exported view.

You cannot add users to the recipients before configuring the email settings.

    • Export Type: Choose the format for the export (e.g., PDF, Excel).
