How to Configure Subcategories in Bold BI

This feature allows users to organize and manage their dashboards more efficiently by creating subcategories within existing categories. It improves dashboard organization, especially for those managing a large number of dashboards across various departments or use cases.

Advantages of Subcategory Support:

Structured Management: Subcategories enable users to group related dashboards under a parent category, providing a more structured way of managing dashboards.
Quick Access: Users can quickly locate dashboards by browsing through categorized sections, reducing the time spent searching for specific dashboards.
Clutter Reduction: Subcategories prevent clutter in the dashboard list, presenting a neater and more organized workspace.

Steps to Create and Manage Subcategories in Bold BI:

1. Access the Dashboard Categories & Create a Subcategory:

Navigate to the Category section on the left-side panel.
In the Categories panel, find the category where you want to add a subcategory.
Click on the three dots (more options) next to the category name, and select “Add Sub Category” from the menu.

2. Fill in the Subcategory Details:

In the Create Sub Category window, enter the Subcategory Name and optionally a Description.
Click Add to save the subcategory.

View and Manage Subcategories:

Once the subcategory is created, it will appear nested under the parent category.
You can manage the subcategory by clicking the three dots next to it for options like Sharing Permissions, Update, and Delete.

Creating Subcategories from the Create Menu Section:

You can also add subcategories from the “Category” option in the “Create menu” section.
In the Create Category window, select New Sub Category, and choose the parent category where you want to create the subcategory.
Enter the Subcategory Name and optionally a Description. Then click on the “Add” button.
