How to design dashboards with less data and show all data in dashboard?

Published: Jul 17, 2024

When designing dashboards, it is often impractical to process all available data, especially when dealing with large datasets. Processing large volumes of data can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. To address this challenge, data sampling can be enabled during the design phase. This approach allows for the creation of dashboards using a subset of the data, ensuring efficient and responsive design processes. Once the dashboard is in view mode, all records will be displayed.

Enabling Data sampling in Bold BI®:

The detailed steps on how to enable data sampling can be found in this documentation.

NOTE: Data Sampling is not supported for the following data sources: SSAS, SparkSQL, AWS OpenSearch, Elasticsearch,Influx DB and ODBC.

Differences between Data Sampling and Threshold

  • The Data Sampling limit will be applied only for designing the dashboard, while threshold will be applicable for the view and preview mode of the dashboards as well.
  • The Data Sampling is applicable only when the data source is created in table mode.
  • The Threshold is applicable only when the data source is created in code mode.
