How to Duplicate a Dashboard and switch data source to a New Database in Bold BI?

Published:

Overview

Duplicating a dashboard and updating its data source to a new database in Bold BI can be accomplished with a few straightforward steps. This process allows you to maintain the original dashboard’s design while connecting it to different data. By following these steps, you can easily duplicate a dashboard in Bold BI and switch its data source to a new database. This allows for efficient reuse of existing dashboards with different datasets.

Step 1: Copy the Dashboard

To begin, you can duplicate your existing dashboard using the Copy option within Bold BI. This creates an exact replica of your dashboard, which you can then modify as needed.

  1. Navigate to the dashboard you wish to duplicate.
  2. Click on the More Options (three dots) menu.
  3. Select Copy Dashboard from the dropdown.

For detailed instructions on copying dashboards, please refer to the official documentation: Copy Dashboards in Bold BI.

Step 2: Edit the Data Source

After duplicating the dashboard, the next step is to edit the data source to point to the new database.

  1. Go to the copied dashboard and access the Data Sources panel and Locate the data source you want to modify and click Edit

  3. Save the changes to the data source.

Ensure that the new database has the same tables required by the dashboard widgets. Once the data source is connected to the new database, the widgets on the dashboard will automatically reflect the data from the new source.
