How to effectively utilize the Deployment Dashboard and Publishing Dashboard features within the Bold BI?

Published:

Overview

Bold BI provides a comprehensive set of features for managing and deploying dashboards. Two key functionalities within the platform are the Deployment Dashboard and Publishing Dashboard. These features serve different purposes and offer various options for managing dashboards across sites. By understanding the differences and capabilities of the Deployment Dashboard and Publishing Dashboard, users can effectively manage and distribute their dashboards within Bold BI.

Deployment Dashboard

The Deployment Dashboard is a feature designed to streamline the process of adding dashboards to the main internal site. It also automatically deploys these dashboards by default when a new site is created. This functionality is particularly useful for setting up a new tenant with a predefined set of dashboards.

Key Features:

  • Adds dashboards to the main internal site.
  • Deploys dashboards by default during the creation of a new site.
  • Allows for a set of dashboards to be added to a new tenant during its creation.

Publishing Dashboard

On the other hand, the Publishing Dashboard feature is used to publish dashboards to selected sites, both internally and externally. This feature becomes available after a site has been created and offers more flexibility in terms of dashboard distribution.

  • Can be used for both internal and external sites.
  • Provides the option to lock the edit capability for dashboards and data sources.
  • Allows dashboards to be made public.
  • Offers advanced options to lock selective data sources and choose specific users for access.

Comparison

While both features allow for the locking of edit options for dashboards and data sources, as well as the ability to make dashboards public, the Publishing Dashboard offers additional advanced options. These include the ability to lock selective data sources from the selected sites and to choose users for access in the advanced settings.
