How to Set a Default Value for a Combo Box Widget?

Published:

When working with dashboards that include combo box widgets, it’s often useful to have a default value pre-selected. This ensures that users see a consistent set of data when they first load the dashboard. This article will guide you through the process of setting a default value for a combo box widget.

Steps to Set a Default Value for a Combo Box Widget

To set a default value for a combo box widget, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the Combo Box Widget: First, determine which combo box widget you want to set a default value for. For example, let’s say we have a widget named “Department.”

  2. Select the Default Value in design mode: Open the dashboard in design mode, and navigate to the combo box widget. Choose the value you want to set as the default. For instance, if you want “Neurology” to be the default selection, choose it from the list of options in the combo box.

  3. Publish the Dashboard: After selecting the default value, publish the dashboard. This action saves your changes and applies them to the dashboard.

  4. Verify the Default Value: Open the dashboard in view mode to ensure that the “Neurology” value (or whichever value you selected) is set as the default filter in the combo box widget.

By following these steps, you can effectively set a default value for any combo box widget in your dashboard, improving the user experience by providing a consistent starting point for data analysis.
