In what instances is the Data source refresh option disabled?

The data source “Refresh Disabled” indicates that automatic updates from its original data sources have been halted.

The data source will appear disabled for the following reasons:

If the data source is not set to refresh automatically from “Refresh Settings”, it will remain disabled. Please set up a refresh schedule (hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly) in order to activate it.
On continuous data refresh failure. The Bold BI application deactivates data refresh after a limited number of consecutive failures and sends a disable notification to the owner via email.
