Customize Grouping and Decimal Symbols Using Measure Formatting Feature in Bold BI

Published:

When working with numeric data in Bold BI, you may encounter situations where you need to display numbers without commas, such as in ID columns where the format needs to be consistent for key matching across tables. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to remove commas from numeric columns in general Grids within Bold BI dashboards.

Steps to Customize Grouping and Decimal Symbols

  1. Navigate to the Assign data section of your dashboard widget.

  2. Locate the setting option for the measure column you wish to format and click on it to access the Format option.

  4. In the dialog, change the Currency setting from Auto (language) to your desired language setting (e.g., English (United States)). Note that the group and decimal symbols are not enabled when set to Auto.

  5. After switching the language from Auto, the Group and Decimal symbols will become enabled. Proceed to change the Group symbol from a comma (“,”) to empty (no symbol).

By following these steps, you can ensure that your numeric columns display numbers without the use of commas, which can be particularly useful for ID columns or when matching keys across different tables.

Remember to review your changes and ensure that the data is displayed correctly across all relevant widgets and dashboards.
