How to Add a Month Picker custom widget in Bold BI?

Bold BI allows you to add a variety of custom widgets to your dashboard, including a Month Picker. The Query Builder component is used to create or edit filters. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Steps to Add Month Picker Custom Widget

  1. Download the Month Picker Custom Widget: Start by downloading the Month Picker Custom Widget. You have the option to download the widget file from either the attachment below or the provided download link.

  2. Publish the Custom Widget to Bold BI: After downloading the widget, you need to publish it to the Bold BI application. This will make the widget available for use in your dashboards. You can find a detailed guide on how to publish custom widgets here.

  3. Locate the Widget in the Designer Panel: After publishing, the Month Picker custom widget will appear under the Miscellaneous section of the Designer Panel.

  1. Add the Widget to Your Dashboard: To add the widget to your dashboard, simply drag and drop it from the designer panel onto your dashboard. You can place it anywhere you like.

Step 5: Configure the Data: After adding the widget to your dashboard, you need to configure the data as needed. This widget filter will works depend on the specific data you want to display in the Month Picker. Navigate to the Assign Data section within your Month Picker interface. In the date field, you can find various date formats. This widget specifically filters based on the Month or Month or Year.

Step 6: Render the Widget: Once all these steps are completed, the Month Picker custom widget will render on your dashboard. You can now view your data in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand format.

Setting Up Conditions and Values

Setting Up a Month Filter:

To filter data by month, follow these steps:

  1. Assign Data Format: In the data assignment section of your application, set the date format to ‘Month’. This will ensure that the data is recognized and treated as a monthly value.

  1. Configure Properties: Go to the properties section of the month picker. Here, you need to check that the format is set to one of the following options:
    • MMMM (e.g., January, February, etc.)
    • MMM (e.g., Jan, Feb, etc.)
    • MM (e.g., 01, 02, etc.)

By setting the format to one of these options, the month picker will be able to recognize and filter the data based on the month.

Setting Up a Month-Year Filter:

For filtering data by both month and year, the process is similar but with a slight variation in the date format:

  1. Assign Data Format: In the data assignment section, set the date format to ‘Month Year’. This format will allow the filter to distinguish between the same months in different years.

  1. Configure Properties: In the properties section for the month-year picker, ensure the format is set to one of the following:
    • MMMM y (e.g., January 2023, February 2023, etc.)
    • MMM y (e.g., Jan 2023, Feb 2023, etc.)
    • MM y (e.g., 01 2023, 02 2023, etc.)

Setting the format to one of these options will enable the filter to correctly identify and sort the data based on both the month and the year.
