How to Add a Query Builder custom widget in Bold BI?

Published:

Bold BI allows you to add a variety of custom widgets to your dashboard, including a query builder. The Query Builder component is used to create or edit filters. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Steps to Add Query Builder Custom Widget

  1. Download the Query BuilderCustom Widget: Start by downloading the Query Builder Custom Widget.

  2. Publish the Custom Widget to Bold BI: After downloading the widget, you need to publish it to the Bold BI application. This will make the widget available for use in your dashboards. You can find a detailed guide on how to publish custom widgets here.

  3. Locate the Widget in the Designer Panel: After publishing, the Query Builder custom widget will appear under the Miscellaneous section of the Designer Panel.

Step 5: Configure the Data: After adding the widget to your dashboard, you need to configure the data as needed. This will depend on the specific data you want to display in the Query Builder. Navigate to the Assign Data section within your query builder interface. You will find four different field containers corresponding to the data types: Number, String, Date, and Boolean. Configure your column by selecting the appropriate data type. Once configured, the column name will be available in the field drop-down menu of the query builder widget.

Step 6: Render the Widget: Once all these steps are completed, the Query Builder custom widget will render on your dashboard. You can now view your data in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand format.

By following these steps, you can easily add a bar chart custom widget to your Bold BI dashboard. This will not only enhance the visual appeal of your dashboard but also make data analysis more intuitive and effective.

Setting Up Conditions and Values

After configuring your columns, the next step is to define the conditions and values for your query:

  1. Select a column from the field drop-down menu. The widget will automatically detect the column’s data type.

  1. For columns with a String data type, choose “IN” as the condition. This will present a combo box that allows for the selection of multiple filter values.
  2. Once you select the filter values, they will be displayed in the filter overview section of the query builder.

By following these steps, you can effectively add and configure custom widgets in your query builder to enhance the user experience. Remember to choose the correct condition based on the data type of the column you are working with, especially when dealing with string columns where the “IN” condition allows for multiple selections.
