How to inherit global settings from ums into site in Bold BI.

This section offers guidance on inheriting global settings from the user management server into the BI site.
We provide this support starting from version 6.19.14. This feature is available in Bold BI Embedded Analytics, not in Cloud Analytics.

Settings inherited from the UMS:

The User Management Server (UMS) has various settings, but among them, some settings can be inherited from UMS to the BI tenant site, which are described below.

Settings
Description
Date and time settings
The date format, time format, and time zone information will be inherited from UMS.
Language settings  
The language preference for localization will be inherited from UMS.

By default, the Bold BI application is available in English(en-US).
 
Application Language: The language used in application user interface (menu, dialog box, toolbox and more).

Data Language:  The language used in date, number and currency format.
Look and Feel settings
Explains how to customize font, application theme, and dashboard theme in the Bold BI application.

Font Family: By default, the Bold BI application will load the text using the "Roboto Regular" font style. Using this option, you can change the font style of the Bold BI application.

Themes are divided into two types:

Application theme: The application theme mode can be switched to either light or dark mode. By default, the light mode is applied.

Dashboard theme: You can customize the dashboard theme that will be applied to dashboards in dashboard view mode. By default, the Default option will be selected.
Branding settings
Branding image, copyright, and powered-by information will be inherited from UMS.
Email settings
The email configuration will be inherited from UMS. 
Accounts settings  
The user account activation mode and other related settings will be inherited from UMS.

Automatic activation: When user activation is set to Automatic Activation mode, user accounts will be activated automatically while adding users in the User Management Server.

Email activation: When user activation is set to Email Activation mode, user accounts are not activated while adding users in User Management Server, and an account activation email with an activation link is sent to the email address to activate the user account.

 How to inherit the global settings when creating a new site.

  1. To create a new site, go to the following URL: {domain}/ums/sites?action=create-new-site. Check the dropdown menu labeled "inherit global settings" that can be found below the Site identifier text box.   
  2. Click that dropdown menu and select the "Select all" option to access all global settings from UMS when creating a new site. If you would like to inherit selected settings from UMS, select the specific settings you require from the global settings in UMS.


How to inherit the global settings within an existing site.

To inherit the global settings from UMS and BI tenant's site settings page.

From UMS:
To inherit all global settings and specific settings:
  1.  Please visit the URL: {domain}/ums/sites. On the UMS site listing page, select the "Site Name" of the site you wish to inherit the global settings from UMS.
  2. Click the "Settings" tab on the site details page. All options that inherit global settings will be shown. To access all global settings from UMS within an existing site, choose the "inherit Global Settings". Or select the specific settings you require from the global settings in UMS.
After saving the settings, navigate to the site and verify the selected settings.

From BI tenant site settings page:
From the BI site, you can be able to inherit settings for selected options.

Application Language:

To inherit the Application language settings from UMS to the site on the BI tenant site settings page, go to this URL: {domain}/bi/site/{site identifier}/administration/site. Select the "Application language" dropdown menu and choose "inherit from global settings" from the options to inherit the application language settings from UMS to the site.


Look and Feel:

To inherit the Look and Feel settings from UMS to the site in the BI tenant site settings page, navigate to this URL: {domain}/bi/site/{site identifier}/administration/site. Select the "Look and Feel" settings tab and check the "Inherit Global Settings" box to ensure that the look and feel settings are inherited from UMS to the site.
