Utilizing the Date Picker to Filter Today's Data

Published:

When working with dashboards in Bold BI, you may find yourself needing to focus on data from a specific time frame, such as the current day. Bold BI’s Relative Date Filter feature allows you to easily filter your data to display only today’s information. Here’s how you can set up a relative date filter using the date picker widget:

Step-by-Step Guide to Set Up a Relative Date Filter

  1. Add the Date Picker Widget: First, you need to add the date picker widget to your dashboard. Make sure to bind it to the desired date field that you want to filter.

  2. Enable the “Range” Option: Navigate to the date picker widget properties and enable the “Range” option. This allows you to specify a range of dates, which is necessary for setting up the relative date filter.

  3. Assign the Relative Date Filter for Today: Switch to the “Assign Data” section and add a relative date filter for “Today.” This will ensure that the data displayed is filtered to only include data from the current day.

  4. Apply the Relative Date Filter: After adding the relative date filter, click on the date picker icon. The added relative date filter will be listed in the dropdown menu. Select it to apply the filter to your data.

  5. Set the Initial Filter: For the date picker, apply the relative date filter as the initial filter. This means that every time the dashboard is accessed, it will automatically display data for the current day.

  6. Preview or Publish Your Dashboard: Finally, preview or publish your dashboard. With the initial filter applied, your dashboard will render and display data only for today.
