Managing Error Log File Size and Count in Bold BI

When managing a Bold BI server, it’s important to keep an eye on the error log files. These files can grow in size and number, potentially consuming valuable disk space. To control the number of error log files or their maximum size, you can modify the configuration settings. Here’s how to do it:

Step-by-Step Guide to Modify Error Log Settings

Step 1: Locate the Configuration File

First, you need to navigate to the directory where the configuration file is stored. This file contains various settings that control the behavior of the Bold BI server, including error logging.

The config file was located in the below location in Windows. please refer to the below image.

Step 2: Edit the Configuration File

Once you have located the configuration file, open it with a text editor. Look for the maxSizeRollBackups setting. This setting determines the maximum number of error log files that the system will maintain before it starts overwriting the oldest files.

Change the maxSizeRollBackups value to the desired number of backup files you wish to keep. For example, if you want the system to maintain up to 10 error log files, set the value to 10.

After making the changes, save the configuration file and restart the Bold BI server for the changes to take effect.
