The below diagram describes how the data flows in Bold BI when we connect data sources and use the connected data in dashboards.
Here, the Bold BI Intermediate Database is a data store to import data from Web API data sources, extract mode connection data sources like SQL and static files, and connect with dashboards quickly. And the Bold BI Data Engine is where you can perform simple transformations to your data, such as join tables, create calculated fields, add filters, and format them for use in visualizations of a dashboard.

The query will be executed within the database server or Bold BI data store, and once the data is retrieved from the database, some kind of data post-processing, such as formatting and customizations, will be done within the Bold BI data engine specific to the visualizations.
