Understanding Data Alert and Data Filters Export in Dashboard Schedule
When scheduling a dashboard export, it’s crucial to differentiate between data alert conditions and data filters. Alert conditions serve the purpose of data validation and are not intended to act as filters for the data being exported.
Data Alert Conditions vs. Data Filters
Data Alert conditions are set to monitor specific metrics and notify you when those metrics meet certain criteria. For example, setting an alert condition for the “SUM(Sales)” field to be greater than ‘0’ will trigger an email notification if the value increases beyond zero. However, this condition does not influence the content of the exported data.
By setting up a Data filter on the measure column, you can control the data that is included in your export, ensuring that only the relevant data that meets your specified condition is exported.
How to Export Data Based on Specific Conditions
Data Alert on Schedule
Data Alert provides users with the ability to track specific conditions and send alerts to specified recipients via email when a predefined threshold is met.
- Navigate to the schedule page and locate the dashboard you wish to export.
- Schedules can be created for each respective dashboard. Enter the schedule Name, and then enable Data Alerts.
- Select the Widget to which you want to add the threshold condition and choose one of the Conditions. For example, setting an alert condition for the “SUM(Sales)” field to be greater than** ‘0’**.
- Save the settings and schedule.
- The “SUM(Sales)” field to be greater than ‘0’ will trigger an email notification if the value increases beyond zero. However, this condition does not influence the content of the exported data.

Data Filter
To export data that meets particular criteria, you must configure a filter directly on the measure column within the dashboard. Here’s how to do it:
- Navigate to the dashboard you wish to export.
- Locate the measure column that you want to apply a filter to, such as “SUM(Sales)”.
- Set a filter condition on this column. For instance, to export data where “SUM(Sales)” is greater than ‘0’, apply this condition as a filter.
- Save the filter settings to ensure they are applied to the data export.
By setting up a filter on the measure column, you can control the data that is included in your export, ensuring that only the relevant data that meets your specified condition is exported.
