Possible options in grid conditional formatting

Published:

In data visualization, conditional formatting is a powerful tool that allows users to highlight data based on certain conditions. This makes it easier to analyze and understand data at a glance. There are two main types of conditional formatting in grid such as gradient and rule based.

Gradient Conditional Formatting

Gradient conditional formatting is a type of data visualization that uses a color gradient to represent different values in a data set. This type of formatting is particularly useful when you want to visualize a range of values in a continuous spectrum. The gradient formatting feature in Bold BI allows you to choose a start and end color, and the software will automatically apply a color gradient based on the values in your data set.

  • Configure the Grid widget and navigate to the Properties tab.

  • Navigate to Formatting under the properties pane to access the formatting section.

  • Select the column from the list on which you need to apply conditional formatting and then click the Advanced Setting radio button to open the Conditional Formatting Window.

  • You can define your range by entering the low, mid, and high values. Once you have defined all the range, click on the Save button to update the changes.

  • If no value is entered, then the ranges will be auto calculated based on the minimum and maximum values from the data source.

  • Now, the widget visualization will be updated based on the conditions.

Rule-Based Conditional Formatting

Rule-based conditional formatting allows you to define specific rules for how your data should be formatted. This type of formatting is useful when you want to highlight specific values or ranges of values in your data set.

  • In the Conditional Formatting window, choose the Rule option to define the conditions for the conditional formatting on the selected column. You can then define your rules based on the values in your data set.
