Understanding Row Limitations in Exporting Data in Bold BI

Published:

When working with Bold BI, it’s important to understand the limitations that may apply when exporting data to different formats. This is particularly relevant when exporting data to Excel or CSV formats.

Excel Export Limitations

The number of rows that can be exported to Excel depends on the version of Excel being used. Here are the row limitations for various Excel versions:

  • Excel 2003 and earlier: 65,536 rows
  • Excel 2007: 1,048,576 rows
  • Excel 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019: 1,048,576 rows
  • Excel for Microsoft 365: 1,048,576 rows

These limitations are imposed by Excel itself, not by Bold BI. Refer to the official Microsoft documentation. Therefore, if you’re working with large datasets, you may need to consider splitting your data across multiple Excel files or sheets.

CSV Export Limitations

When exporting data to CSV format, there are no row limitations in Bold BI. This means you can export any size of data to a CSV file without worrying about hitting a row limit. This makes CSV a good option for exporting large datasets.

Exporting large amounts of data to CSV will have a performance impact.
