Understanding Internal and External Publish Options in Bold BI
In Bold BI, the availability of internal and external publish options varies depending on the type of tenant site you are publishing from. Specifically, these options are only shown for a master site. For Cloud Analytics Server and non-master sites in Embedded Analytics Server, only the external publish option is applicable.
To determine whether a tenant site is a master or non-master site in the Bold BI Embedded Analytics Server, you can check the UMS sites page at {domain_name}/ums/sites. Here, you will find an icon indicating whether the site is a master site.
Identifying a Master Site in Embedded Analytics Server
To identify a master site in Bold BI Embedded Analytics Server, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the UMS sites page at {domain_name}/ums/sites.
- Look for the Master site icon that indicates that the site is a master site.
If the site is a master site, then both internal and external publish options will be available and it will be shown like below,
If it is a Cloud Analytics Server or non-master site in Embedded Analytics Server, only the external publish option will be available and external site publish dialog will be shown directly like below. Also, we can publish the dashboard to the internal sites using the external site publish option for the non-master sites.
Understanding Publish Options
The internal and external publish options in Bold BI allows your dashboard and data source sharing between the tenant sites in online mode. The internal publish option is designed for sharing to another tenant site within single instance, whereas the external publish option allows you to share either on the same server or on different instances of multiple tenants.
Note
- Replace {domain_name} with your actual domain name while accessing the UMS sites page.
