Guide to Reconnecting and Updating Your Data Source in Bold BI

Published:

When you add new columns to your data source, you need to reconnect it to Bold BI to incorporate these changes. This guide will walk you through the process of reconnecting your data source and updating it to include the newly added columns.

Reconnecting the Data Source

To incorporate the newly added columns into Bold BI, you need to reconnect the data source. Follow the steps outlined in this guide.

Ensure that the existing schema columns remain unchanged for the data source you reconnect and only additional columns/rows are added. When reconnecting, select all the columns that were previously selected while connecting. This will prevent any disruption to the existing dashboards and no information will be lost.

Steps to Reconnect

  1. Click “Edit Datasource”

  5. An alert will be shown if the selected columns do not match the existing saved columns. Click No and recheck if the required columns are selected and then proceed. Do not proceed to connect the data source if you face a “schema mismatch” alert.

  6. Do NOT delete the dragged “table” and re-add from the left nav. The new columns will be automatically added.
  7. Click “Save”

Once reconnected, save the connection and edit the data source again to see the new fields in the dragged table. Then enable/disable the eye icon next to the field and update the below preview to see the newly added columns.

Note

An alert will be shown in the connection preview window if there is any change in the schema during re-connection. Review the selected columns and modify them to have the same selected columns to avoid data source losses.
