How to Publish a Custom Widget to Another Site on Windows Environment Using Bold BI
Bold BI provides a utility to update and move custom widgets across different sites. This guide will walk you through the steps to publish a custom widget to another site using this utility.
Steps
Download and Extract the Utility: Please note that, the utility files might differ based on the Bold BI version you have used. Kindly download the utility based on the Bold BI version you've used. Once downloaded, extract the files.
Get the Master Site Client ID: Navigate to the UMS sites and select the master site to get the site’s unique GUID.
Navigate to the Bold BI Build Installed Location: The location should look something like this:
{Bold Services}\app_data\bi\e2c66553-308c-4c96-b0f2-48aa6befda0b\CustomWidgets\. The highlighted GUID is the client ID that you copied in Step 2.Place the Extracted Custom Widget Move Utility Files: Place the files in the location specified in Step 3.
Run the .exe File: Running the .exe file will present you with several options.
Select the Appropriate Option:
- The first option will move all the custom widgets available on the current site to all the sites available on the Bold BI server.
- The second option will move the recently updated custom widget available on the current site to all the sites available on the Bold BI server.
- The third option will update the recently updated custom widget available in the current site to all the sites that already have the same widget.
- The first option will move all the custom widgets available on the current site to all the sites available on the Bold BI server.
For your requirements, you can make use of the above options to move/update the custom widgets available in the source site to the target sites.
Note: If you want to edit the published dashboard in the target site designer, you can enable custom widgets in the widgets settings page.
