What are Server Configuration, Data Store Configuration and ID Databases?

While configuring Bold BI in the advanced mode, Bold BI asking you to configure 3 different databases. This article explains the purpose of Server Configuration, Data Store Configuration and ID databases.

ID Database

The ID database is used to store tenants, users and their tenant access permission.

Server Configuration Database

The Server Configuration database is primarily used for storing information related to dashboards, users, and their access permissions. This database plays a crucial role in managing the overall access control and user management within the Bold BI environment.

Data Store Configuration Database

On the other hand, the Data Store Configuration database, often referred to as the Datastore, is an intermediate database. Its main function is to store imported data from Web API or SQL data sources. This database is essential for managing and manipulating the data that is used within the dashboards.

Can They Be the Same or Different?

The choice of whether to use the same or different database names depends entirely on your usage and requirements. Both scenarios are valid and can be implemented based on the specific needs of your Bold BI setup.

In conclusion, the databases serve different purposes within the Bold BI environment, they can be configured with the same or different names based on your specific needs.
