How to disable view underlying data dialog being opened on clicking on a value in the widget and perform filter operation

Published:

In some cases, we may want to customize the click action on a data in a widget to directly perform a specific action, such as filtering, without having to select the option from a context menu. This article will guide on how to achieve this customization.

Disabling the Context Menu

By default, a context menu is displayed when clicking on a data if more than one action is linked to a widget. The ‘View Underlying Data’ option is enabled for all widgets, and if we enable any additional actions (filtering, linking, drill down), we will get a context menu options and we can perform required actions.

To perform a filtering action directly without displaying the context menu, we need to disable the ‘View Underlying Data’ option from the property panel. In this case, the widget will have only one action, and that action will be performed directly without displaying the menu.

Steps to Disable ‘View Underlying Data’ Option

  1. Click the “Settings” icon of the widget
  2. Navigate to the “View Underlying Data” properties section.
  3. Locate the “Enable” option.
  4. Disable the option by unchecking the checkbox.

Now, when we click on a bar in the chart widget, the filtering action will be performed directly without displaying the context menu.
