How to update passwords for users imported from third party identity providers?

Published:

If you are unable to update the password for certain users, they may be imported from a Third-Party Identity provider, such as Windows AD, Azure AD, Open ID Connect or OAuth. In this case, you cannot update the password for these users directly in Bold BI.

Solution

There are two possible solutions to update the password for these users:

1. Change the DirectoryTypeId Column

Change the DirectoryTypeId column value to 1 in both the UMS and tenant databases. This will allow you to update the password for these users.

  • UMS Table name: boldtc_user
  • Tenant table name: syncds_user

2. Remove and Add Users

Alternatively, you can remove the users from the system and add them again. This will allow you to use password authentication for these users.

While removing and adding users, you need to reconfigure the user permissions.

Note: Always ensure to back up your database before making any changes to the database tables.
