How to resolve the data label overlapping issue in line or spline widgets

Published:

Data label overlapping can occur in line or spline widgets when the space is insufficient to display the data labels. This article will guide you through the steps to resolve this issue.

Step 1: Change the Label Position
1. In the widget properties, navigate to the Basic Settings category.

2. Change the Label Position based on the available space. This will provide more space for the data labels to be displayed without overlapping.

For example, the following screenshot shows that there is some space at the bottom of the line. Therefore, the Label Position is set to the Bottom. However, if the Label Position is set to the Top, there is insufficient space to display the data label and it will overlap.

For more information on label position settings, refer to the Line Chart documentation

Step 2: Adjust Axis Settings
By default, the Axis settings such as Minimum, Maximum, and Interval are calculated based on the value. If you have set any Axis settings, remove or adjust them based on the value.

For more information on Axis settings, refer to the help documentation: https://help.boldbi.com/embedded-bi/visualizing-data/visualization-widgets/line-chart/#axis-range-settings

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the data label overlapping issue in line or spline widgets.
